The Rocketeer is a Tier 4 Arms Race tank and Daily Tank in Arras.io. It upgrades from the Launcher at Level 45 in Arms Race and upgrades into the Firework, ICBM, Venture, Leviathan, Scorcher, Mamba, Cartridge, Aviator, Careerer,Auto-Rocketeer and Pyromaniac
Design
The Rocketeer features a circular body with a Deployer on its front. The deployer features a trapezoid with a second, smaller trapezoid mounted on its front. Its missiles are called Rockets.
Technical
Upon upgrading to the Rocketeer, the Launcher's missiles are replaced by Rockets, whose cannons are reminiscent of a Machine Gun's, having wider bullet spread and faster fire rate. When launched, a Rocket does not start propelling itself immediately like other propulsion missiles. Instead it decelerates, only till moments later it gradually gathers speed from its backward fire.
Apparently, the stat Bullet Speed does not correlate strongly with the Rocket's top speed under propulsion. It concerns mainly the muzzle velocity. Rather, Reload, increasing the Rocket's fire rate, is the main factor of the Rocket's terminal speed and range.
Strategy
- Strong against: Unsuspecting tanks, low rate of fire tanks, most Trapper branch classes.
- Weak against: Destroyer branch up close, Snipers, Rammers when close up.
As the Rocketeer
- Avoid close quarter combat in general. Because Rockets have low muzzle velocity and slow start-up, they are quite easy to read and dodge. In addition, a low missile speed reduces damage done. It is possible to mitigate this weakness with extra Bullet Speed points, but that is often not worth the cost.
- When making a build, try to avoid using bullet speed, as the incredible recoil for the missile makes up for it. This is especially useful for modes that are more just mindless spamming such as Siege and Assault, where accuracy does not matter much.
- This also saves you upgrade points to put into things such as Health and Damage.
- Nonetheless when the Rocket has reached full speed, it becomes very difficult to dodge or block. To conceal a Rocket initially, one may for example fire at low-FoV targets or blend one's Rockets midst friendly fire.
- The Rocketeer's missiles excel on reaching through farther targets and penetrating through their defenses, given the powerful recoil the missiles generate upon firing them. As such, the player should use such properties for such purposes.
Against the Rocketeer
- See the Rockets just as they are launched and dodge out of its course.
- The Rocketeer lacks enough rate of fire to spam its missiles. This weakness should be used to trick them into missing their shots while putting pressure against them.
- Rammers can easily dodge the predictable missiles, while also exploit the weakness of close combat.
- Try to catch one off-guard, as it lacks the necessary reload to do much before it is at least harmed.
- Destroyers and Rammers do very well at this. Try to use a vertical ambush as well when doing this.
- Out-Flanking it will also be very effective, as it can only target one tank at a time.
Trivia
- This tank was released 4 years after its Diep.io counterpart made its debut.
- Before then, the Sidewinder was considered as the Arras.io counterpart of Diep.io's Rocketeer, due to very similar properties the former previously had. After the addition of Rocketeer to Arras.io, the Sidewinder was reworked to avoid overlapping.
- The Missiles’ propulsion bullets are actually very weak and last a very short time, unlike it’s Diep.io counterpart.
- The Rocketeer was playable outside of Arms Race until November 25th, 2021.
- This was most likely due to the inability to balance the tank.
- Rocketeers are used as some of Nyx's turrets.
- This tank was playable in all gamemodes on December 18th, 2023. On December 19th, 2023, this tank was replaced by Jump Smasher. The reason of the replacement of this tank in all gamemodes is because an another daily tank was released.
- When this tank was a daily tank, this tank didn't have tier 5 upgrades in all gamemodes except Arms Race.
- This is most likely a wrong daily tank, a daily tank stolen from Arms Race, or the Developer just released it as a daily tank, so players (including OGs) can use it again outside Arms Race.
- This tank can't be upgraded from Basic in Arms Race, but in Daily, it can.
- Unknown if this tank as a daily tank in Arms Race can upgrade to its tier 5 upgrades.
