The Octo Tank is a Tier 4 tank in Arras.io. It upgrades from the Hexa Tank at Level 45 and does not upgrade further.
Design
The Octo Tank has eight cannons each spaced 45° away from each other. Each cannon is identical to that of a Basic.
Technical
The Octo Tank's cannons alternate firing between the cannons facing the cardinal directions, and the cannons facing the ordinal directions (relative to the tank). Otherwise, each cannon behaves identically to that of a Basic, in terms of both fire rate, accuracy, and bullets.
Strategy
- Strong Against: Multiple low damage tanks, slow melee tanks, invisible tanks, Tri-Angle class, Drone tanks except Factory
- Weak Against: Focused bullet spammers, Nailgun, Destroyer branch, skilled fast melee tanks
As the Octo Tank
- Recommended builds for the Octo Tank include the glass cannon and the hurricane build.
- A glass cannon build concentrates on Bullet- and not on Health-related Stats. The huge area of Octo bullets can be difficult for enemies to avoid; however, this build is vulnerable to fast-moving rammers such as the Booster.
- An hurricane build exchanges Bullet Speed for Health. The dense pack of bullets around the tank shield the tank from most forms of attack. It is however very passive against a focused DPS tank shooting from a safe distance.
- Instead of holding the mouse button and rotating the Octo Tank manually, players can enable Auto Spin and Auto Fire with the
CandEbutton. The spinning can make it difficult to dodge an Octo Tank’s bullet. - This tank is very useful for providing cover for allies, detecting invisible tanks, and farming, and being so even on a poor internet connection.
- As the effectiveness of the Octo Tank draws on its own firepower rather than its controller's aim, players may wish to invest some points on Movement Speed and focus their attention on dodging attacks. Drones, for example, perish rapidly in the Octo Tank's bullet storm.
- By rotating the tank body by 45 degrees between consecutive volleys, one can concentrate the Octo Tank's fire into four instead of eight directions.
- Multiple Octo Tanks can spam an area with numerous bullets impervious to all but the most coordinated attacks. Hide behind Obstacles and invite a Drone tank teammate to become even more invincible.
- The Octo Tank usually has problems fighting focused bullet spammers such as the Sprayer or the Triplet. It can, however, contest with focused DPS tanks that lack proper flank protection such as the Single by hovering skillfully about the enemy.
Against the Octo Tank
- The Octo Tank can be difficult to approach for its eight cannons. However, the tank lacks focused fire — because of this, an easy way to defeat an Octo Tank is to use focused firing tanks with maxed out bullet stats.
- The Factory's Minions can simply march through the Octo Tank’s defense and destroy it with their bullets, making it a powerful counter.
- The Pounder branch's powerful bullets or the Sniper branch's sharp bullets can penetrate an Octo Tank's diffused storm of bullets.
- An experienced Nailgun user can wear down an Octo Tank at a safe distance.
- Skilled Tri-Angle branches can slip through the storm of Bullets and either ram or bullet-ram the Octo Tank between its Cannons. A skilled Octo Tank player, however, may dodge the ram and leave the Tri-Angle with Health too low to escape from the eye of its storm.
- An Overseer or its upgrades can use their Drones to flank the Octo Tank through the gap between its Cannons, although this is somewhat risky.
- Tanks like the Triple Twin may hold against the Octo Tank though but it is not recommended.
